Reducing pollution through new wetlands
Actor: Municipality of Lomma ● Year: 2016 ● Address: Hamngatan 3 Lomma, Sweden
Systematically building wetlandes with other municipalities to reduce N and P dicharges.
For 25 years we have worked with building new wetlands inland together with all the municipalities in the cathment area of the two rivers ending with estuaries in our bay. All in all we have created more than 900 acres of wetland.
We estimate that yearly this reduces 250 tonnes of nitrogen and 10 tonnes of phosphorous.
