New, more environmentally friendly oil cable
Actor: Turku Energia Ltd ● Year: 2016 ● Address: Myllysilta, Turku, Finland
When the Myllysilta bridge of Turku collapsed in 2010, the place of the 110kV oil cable had to be changed.
At the same time the decision was made to empty the old oil cable of the oil and to change it for a plastic, more environmentally friendly cable. The costs altogether were about EUR 200 000.
The exchange of the old cable full of oil considerably reduces the risk of oil spill in the River Aurajoki area. Turku Energia reports all the environmental actions which have been implemented during the year on the environment pages of the company’s annual report and in its financial statements of environment.
